- Ch 2-Conversations: Classroom and School Structures that support Adolescent Literacy Development "Learning is a community function, not an isolated one, and the conversations that occur between learners foster growth for all involved" (Vygotsky, 1978).
What structures will you use to support literacy in your classroom? Some of the strategies you will read about in chapter 2 will be new to you while others may be very familiar.
In addition to those provided in the primary text, please remember to go to your additional purchased text, 50 Content Area Strategies for Adolescent Literacy, by Douglas Fisher, William Brozo, Nancy Frey, and Gay Ivey for more suggestions.

- Additional Information Chapter 2 provides you with several ways to group students for learning. After reading the chapter, select one of the strategies in the 50 Content Literacy Strategies text for additional information. Next, look for other sources of information concerning this strategy from other texts or the internet. Finally, share what you found with the group. Tell what strategy you selected, why, information you learned, how you plan to use it, and any research-based evidence of its effectiveness. Be sure to include a list of your references which needs to include at least 3 sources; at least one of these needs to be from the internet.
